TALISMAN MEANING
One of the oldest symbols in human history, the evil eye dates back over 5,000 years to Mesopotamia, where people believed that envy or ill will cast through a glance could bring misfortune. To guard against this unseen force, they carved protective eye amulets into stone, clay, and jewelry, a practice that spread across Egypt, Greece, and beyond.
In Egypt, protective eyes were linked to the Eye of Horus, a sacred emblem of restoration and divine sight. In Greece, the mati was painted on vessels and worn as charms to deflect harmful energy. Across every culture it touched, the eye became a universal shield: a reminder that what is unseen is just as powerful as what is seen.
Our Materials
Every Catori Life piece is ethically handcrafted in Santa Fe, New Mexico and New York City from 100% recycled metal. No newly mined metal, ever.
Bronze: 100% recycled, hand polished solid bronze
Sterling silver: recycled solid sterling silver. Some of our silver chains are rhodium plated to keep from tarnishing. Please be sure to see product details.
Gold: solid recycled 10k, 14k or 18k gold, SCS Global certified. Never plated or filled.
Nickel and allergen free. Where a chain or hook is gold fill or gold vermeil, we note it on the product.
Care: bronze and silver warm to a soft patina over time. Polish with a soft cloth to bring back the shine.

Each made-to-order piece is crafted just for you. Please allow 2 to 5 weeks for us to make and ship your order.

Made-to-order pieces are final sale and can’t be exchanged or returned. If a bronze version is available, we recommend ordering it first to make sure the size and design are perfect for you. You can then exchange the bronze piece and apply it to your made-to-order version.
